WHY THIS TREK

The Grande Traversata Elbana

Four days along the spine of Elba.

Group chat before departure
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

The Grande Traversata Elbana is the island's most iconic walk: it crosses the whole ridge, joining wild country, panoramic crests and a variety of landscapes that tells the island's story in just a few days. It was devised in the 1980s by Renato Giombini and Mario Ferrari, and today it is a classic of Italian hiking.

Day 1. From Cavo to Porto Azzurro, along the eastern coast. Day 2. From Porto Azzurro to Marina di Campo. Day 3. From Marina di Campo to Marciana Marina. Day 4. From Marciana Marina to Pomonte, with the sea never far.

5 reasons to come - the complete traverse of the island of Elba - panoramic crests with the Mediterranean on both sides - seaside villages as end-of-day stops - a historic route, devised in the 1980s - four days of wild country a step from the coast

Who it suits A long, demanding walk over four consecutive days: good fitness is needed.

Elba on foot is another island: set off with the Guidders.
