WHY THIS HIKE

The three huts trek

Three huts and a rare density of beauty.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

The Three Huts Loop is one of the most panoramic treks in the Dolomites: you walk among the spectacular Cinque Torri, climb to Rifugio Nuvolau — one of the oldest huts in the Dolomites — and close the loop by Col Gallina, with the Tofane, the Lagazuoi and the valleys always in sight. The real value of this route is its density: in a short space you cross some of the most iconic spots in the region. The Cinque Torri tell the story of the Great War, Rifugio Scoiattoli has one of the most famous terraces around, and from the Nuvolau the view turns full circle. Every bend changes the perspective, without ever losing intensity.

5 reasons to come - Rifugio Nuvolau, among the oldest in the Dolomites - the terrace of Rifugio Scoiattoli - the Cinque Torri and their history - the Tofane and the Lagazuoi in front of you - a loop that is accessible but never dull

Who it suits A well-marked path with moderate climbing: accessible to anyone with a little fitness.

Places like this are not told, they are shared: come with the Guidders.

HOW TO GET THERE
09:00MEETING
Starting Point – Giau Pass
We start near the Giau Pass (2236 m), taking a well-marked trail that quickly leads towards the Cinque Torri. The first section is gentle and scenic, perfect for warming up your legs.
10:30MOUNTAIN HUT
Sojourn at Rifugio Scoiattoli or Stay at Rifugio Scoiattoli or Rifugio Scoiattoli: Your Mountain Escape or Rifugio Scoiattoli: Stop by for a Visit!
Arrive at Rifugio Scoiattoli (2255m), one of the most photographed mountain huts in the Dolomites. From here, you can enjoy incredible views of the iconic rock towers and the Tofane peaks. Take a short break or explore the historical trails of the Great War.
12:30MOUNTAIN HUT
Ascend to Rifugio Nuvolau OR Hike to Nuvolau Hut OR Climb to Nuvolau Refuge
We continue towards the Averau mountain hut and then ascend to the Nuvolau mountain hut (2575 m). This is the most challenging section: a steeper climb on rocky terrain, but always on a marked trail. At the summit, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama!
15:30RETURN
Return via Col Gallina
"Descend towards the Giau Pass/Col Gallina on a loop trail. This section is scenic and less technically challenging than the ascent. Return to complete a diverse and incredibly rewarding circuit."

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Alessandro, a qualified mid-mountain leader based in Veneto. The backpack is always ready, though: I lead in plenty of areas across this beautiful country of ours, because it seems a shame to stop at one valley when there are so many to walk. Hikes, views, nature and adventure, always with respect and passion for the environment: that's the formula I use and I have no plans to change it. This profile exists for one reason only — to invite you to live it with me, step by step, instead of just reading about it. If you'd like to keep up with new experiences and trip ideas, the Guidders and I will be out on the trail. 📍 See you in the mountains, Guidders!
