A loop hike to Monte Prado, the highest peak in Tuscany!
The Monte Prado loop, Tuscany's highest peak
The highest summit in Tuscany, in a loop.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from the Casone di Profecchia and the path begins in the heart of a lush beech wood, cool and silent, as far as Bocca di Massa. From there the landscape changes completely: grassy ridges open out, leading to Monte Vecchio, Monte Cella and finally Monte Prado, the highest summit in Tuscany. On the way down we come to Lago Bargentana, a glacial lake set among the mountains.
5 reasons to come - Monte Prado, the roof of Tuscany - three summits in the same loop - Lago Bargentana, glacial and hidden - the grassy ridges of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines - the cool beech wood of the first section
