Giir di Mont Light: Alpine Pastures, History, and Stunning Views Above Premana
The Giir di Mont above Premana
The Giir di Mont, at walking pace.
The experience
The Giir di Mont is the historic mountain-running loop above Premana: we walk it with the Guidders in a shorter version that loses none of its beauty. We start from Premana, the signature village of the Lecco valleys, climb towards Rifugio Casera Vecchia and take in some of the finest summer pastures in the area, as far as Alpe Vegessa. The view ranges over green basins and rocky crests, among barns, pasture and paths that speak of a living alpine tradition.
5 reasons to come - the Giir di Mont, one of the best-known routes in the Lecco valleys - the working pastures above Premana - Rifugio Casera Vecchia along the loop - Alpe Vegessa and its grazing land - Premana, a village that lives off the mountains all year
