Busoni Gallery and Passo della Morte: fall trekking through history and Val d'Adige views
Busoni: trenches in fall colors
A flashlight in your pocket, a slice of history under your boots, and autumn lighting up the woods around you.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Sega di Ala on a loop trail that smells of history and golden leaves. We climb gently toward the Busoni Gallery, a tunnel carved into the rock during World War I: inside, helmets are provided for the visit, and outside, an iron ladder leads to a jaw-dropping balcony over the Adige Valley. We follow the ridge to Passo della Morte, crossing a scenic ledge protected by a railing, with views stretching all the way to Lake Garda. Along the way, an optional stop at Agritur Malga Cime is perfect for a local snack before closing the loop through the colorful forest.
Those trenches and artillery posts tell a real story: between 1915 and 1918, soldiers fought up here at altitude, carving positions into the rock instead of digging trenches in the plains.
5 reasons to join - the Busoni Gallery, a tunnel of history to walk through with a flashlight - the scenic ledge toward Passo della Morte, with Lake Garda in sight - the golden colors of the Trentino forest in fall - an optional tasty stop at Malga Cime - a full loop with constantly changing views
