Ferrata delle Aquile: the Paganella above Lake Garda
The most spectacular via ferrata in Trentino
The Ferrata delle Aquile hangs between sky and rock on Cima Paganella, at 2,125 metres. It is not just a vertical route: it alternates walking sections and technical ones, always with an outstanding scenic impact.
The experience
The Paganella is a natural balcony: the view runs from the blue of Lake Garda to the spires of the Brenta Dolomites, out to the Adige Valley and, on clear days, the Eastern Alps. Among the most thrilling passages are the suspension bridge, which tests balance and focus, and the traverses over the void.
We start from Rifugio Dosso Larici at 1,860 metres, also reachable by the Andalo cable car, and walk across high pastures to the start of the route. Four kilometres and 400 metres of ascent: small numbers, but four and a half hours of full concentration.
This is a demanding via ferrata: you need a head for heights, good fitness and the ability to handle exposure. Not suitable for complete beginners or anyone who has never used a ferrata set. Equipment and alpine guide are included; bring boots, gloves and layered clothing.
Come with the Guidders: book your place and let's climb the Paganella.
