WHY THIS HIKE

Val Canali and Malga Canali

The excursion in Val Canali is an authentic immersion into the heart of the Dolomites, in one of the most fascinating environments of the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Natural Park. Here the mountain presents itself in its purest form: silent forests, wide open spaces and imposing Dolomite walls that accompany the walk step by step. A perfect itinerary for Guidders who love to walk calmly, observe and experience the mountain without haste.

The experience

The route starts in the picturesque Val Canali, taking the path that goes up the Val Pradidali. The environment is austere and majestic, dominated by the great walls of the Pale di San Martino, which make this valley unique in its grandeur and beauty. The route alternates stretches in the woods with more open views, with panoramic stops designed to maintain an accessible and enjoyable pace.

Continuing on, you reach the ruins of Malga Pradidali, a place full of history and silence, a testimony to the mountain pasture life of the past. It is a natural stop for a break, to observe the landscape and breathe in the authentic atmosphere of this sparsely populated valley.

The excursion then continues towards Malga Canali, the final destination of the day. Here we will stop for a lunch in the mountain hut based on homemade cuisine, simple and genuine, prepared according to mountain tradition. A moment of refreshment and conviviality, perfectly in the Guiddy style: we walk together and share the beauty... even at the table.

After the break, the return takes place along a path that gradually leads back to the valley floor and then to the cars, closing the excursion in a natural context of great beauty and tranquility. A relaxing finale that leaves you with that typical feeling of days well spent in the mountains.

An ideal excursion for those looking for Dolomites, authentic nature and good food, to be experienced together with the Guidders community.

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Jacopo, an environmental hiking guide since 2014. I'm from Bassano del Grappa and I work mainly in the mountains: from the Venetian Prealps, quieter and wilder, to the wonderful scenery of the Dolomites. On my outings I love telling the story of places and of the people who lived them before us, bringing back the curious local legends and going looking for the particular animals and plants of the area. I love reading, and it's not unusual for me, mid-hike — deep in the forest or on an isolated rise — to open a book and read a passage aloud: with words our legs get lighter and our thoughts step away from the here and now to hold a moment of something timeless. I can't wait to take you on the next adventure. 📖 See you in the mountains, Guidders!
