The experience

We set off with the Guidders from San Bartolomeo, above Sorico, and climb through pine, spruce, beech and oak towards steadily more alpine country. We pass Alpe di Mezzo and then follow the ridge dividing the Como side from the Swiss one: Lake Como on one hand, the Valchiavenna and the Valtellina on the other. The final climb to Sasso Canale is the most rewarding part: from the top opens one of the finest views on the Alta Via del Lario.

We leave our cars in San Bartolomeo (CO) and set off into a forest of pine, fir, beech, and oak trees.

Alpe di Mezzo
After a steep climb, we reach Alpe di Mezzo to take a well-deserved break before the final push to the summit.

Sasso Canale Peak
A series of rocky outcrops will lead you straight to the summit of Sasso Canale. Standing at 2,411 meters above sea level, it occupies a magnificent vantage point with breathtaking views over Lake Como, Valchiavenna, and Valtellina. Its wild and secluded setting makes it a truly unique experience.

Return to the cars
After a day filled with breathtaking views, we head back to the cars.
