Escursione al Museo a cielo aperto della Grande Guerra
The Great War Museum
The trenches, the letters, and the silence that remains.
The experience
This mid-to-high mountain path takes you back in time, into the history of the Great War. It is not just a walk: it is a way of honouring the thousands who died and of learning from the soldiers' stories. Along the route the old trenches are still there, witnesses to a painful past, and the letters left along the way tell of courage and humanity in extreme conditions. The open-air museum is crossed on foot, and it is only on foot that you understand it.
5 reasons to come - the open-air museum of the Great War - trenches left where the soldiers dug them - the letters along the route - the start at Rifugio Bai de Dones - a different way of looking at these mountains
