Enco & the Triangolo Lariano Chestnut Wood: Family Hike
Enco: woods, fun & snacks
A chestnut forest, the Piramidi di Terra and a snack with apple fritters: the perfect family day out.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Asso on an out-and-back trail that climbs gently past old dry-stone walls, remnants of an ancient connecting path. The trail turns into woodland and leads us straight into the Selva di Enco, the most beautiful and well-kept chestnut forest in the whole Triangolo Lariano. We can stop to catch our breath as often as we like: we set the pace, nice and easy.
The real treat for the little ones? The Piramidi di Terra, curious mushroom-shaped rock formations reached with short detours off the main path: they look straight out of a fairy tale, and kids absolutely love them.
In Enco we find the Agriturismo Cassina Enco, a historic rest stop in the heart of the woods, perfect for apple fritters and homemade walnuts and eggs to take home.
