WHY THIS HIKE

Cima Cars: autumn at altitude

2215 meters, pure meadow in the final stretch. We go by instinct and by sighting the different summit crosses.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

We set off with the Guidders just above Roccaforte Mondovì, in Valle Ellero, with beech and chestnut trees lighting up in intense colors come autumn. The route is a loop with a shared stretch on the way out and back: we climb passing by Casino del Cars, a knoll with its signpost and stone cairn, then the trail gradually becomes more open. In the final stretch before the summit there are no more tracks or markers: we climb a grassy ridge by sight, with Cima Cars drawing closer with every step. On the way down we stop at Rifugio Comino, an unmanned bivouac, where we'll have a coffee straight from the thermos.

5 reasons to join - the climb to an iconic peak of Valle Ellero - the stop at Casino del Cars, a historic landmark - an open panorama over the entire Ligurian Alps from the summit

Who it's suited for A trained leg is needed for the there-and-back route. No technical difficulty, just walking and attention to the path.

Join the Guidders: see you in Valle Ellero for an autumn to remember.

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Chiara, an environmental hiking guide: I'm almost 34 and I have a physical need to see the Alps every morning the moment I wake up. If I can't see them from the window, it means I'm on them. I call myself a "pop" guide: the mountains aren't a race for me, they aren't a running stopwatch and — I'll admit it — I'm no fan of Strava. If you want someone measuring every heartbeat or chasing a speed record, I'm probably not your guide. But if you want someone who stops open-mouthed in front of a stunning view, even the thousandth one that day, we'll get along brilliantly. 🥾 See you in the mountains, Guidders!
