WHY THIS HIKE

Snowshoe Hike to Piani dell’Avaro

Snow, silence and the beam of a head torch.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

We meet at the Piani del Monte Avaro, at Cusio, in the heart of the upper Val Brembana, and put our snowshoes on with the Guidders as evening is already falling. The route is meant for anyone who wants to discover the winter mountains without a demanding climb: we walk in the silence of the plateau, torches lit and snow throwing back every scrap of light. On the way back, for whoever fancies it, the evening carries on at Rifugio Monte Avaro, at a table set with the flavours of the Bergamo mountains. Dinner is optional and booked on the spot, paying the hut for whatever you have.

5 reasons to come - the Piani dell'Avaro after dark, head torches on - an easy route, fine for a first time on snowshoes - the silence of the plateau as evening falls - dinner at Rifugio Monte Avaro, for those who stay - the upper Val Brembana, close to home

Who it suits No difficulties and little height gain: you just need to fancy walking in the cold, well wrapped up.

The Guiddy evenings we like best end like this: mountains, new faces and a table to sit round.
