WHY THIS HIKE

The Miners' Trail to Manina Pass

The miners' path, under snow.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Nona, above Vilminore di Scalve, and follow the Via dei Minatori: the old road used by the workers of the iron mines of the Val di Scalve, active until the 1970s. We pass Rifugio Case Rosse, once the miners' huts, and climb to the Passo della Manina, a balcony on the divide between valleys. It is a simple route but rich in history, panoramic and safe.

5 reasons to come - the story of the Val di Scalve iron mines - the former miners' huts, now Rifugio Case Rosse - the Passo della Manina, a balcony between two valleys - a simple route full of stories - the grand landscapes of the Orobie in winter

Who it suits A simple, safe route: proper winter kit and normal walking fitness are needed.

Walking inside a true story: come with the Guidders.
