Moonlight Snowshoe Hike in Foppolo with a Traditional Mountain Hut Dinner
Moonlight Snowshoe Hike
A full moon on the snow, and a warm hut at the top of the climb.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Foppolo, in the heart of the Val Brembana, as the sky is already darkening. Snowshoes on, we climb a packed winter track up to the Terrazza Salomon: nothing difficult, just a steady climb taken calmly, under a full moon that turns the landscape into something else. At the top comes the moment everyone waits for: a traditional Bergamo dinner, everyone at the same table. Then back down by night, head torches on and the snow glittering.
5 reasons to come - climbing with a full moon lighting up the mountains - the traditional Bergamo dinner at the Terrazza Salomon - the descent by night, head torches lit - a straightforward climb on a packed track - Foppolo in winter, once the lifts have stopped
Who it suits Nothing technical, though the climb asks for a bit of stamina: we go slowly and arrive together.
Some winter evenings are made to be spent out of town: come with the Guidders.
