Snowshoeing in Borghetto: Discover the Magic of Val Febbraro
Snowshoeing in Borghetto, Val Febbraro
A fifteenth-century chapel, and frozen waterfalls.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from the reservoir at Isola and climb the snowy path to the little fifteenth-century chapel, a fairytale corner in the heart of the Val Febbraro. From there the white hummocks begin, leading to the bridge over the stream, between clear water, silent woods and frozen waterfalls. After a flat stretch we cross the stream again and take the old mule track through the woods: the steepest part, and the most atmospheric, up to Alpe Borghetto.
5 reasons to come - the fifteenth-century chapel, deep in the snow - frozen waterfalls along the stream - Alpe Borghetto, a hamlet in winter - the old mule track through the woods - the Val Febbraro, silent and rarely walked
Who it suits A snowshoe outing with one steeper woodland section: normal walking fitness is enough.
Real winter, the kind that smells of woodsmoke: come with the Guidders.
