Description

This year, celebrate New Year's Eve in hiking boots, not high heels. From December 30th to January 1st, we're heading to Alpe Devero, in the heart of the Piedmont Lepontine Alps, for 3 days of snow, silence and community.

You'll stay at Bar Pensione Fattorini, your base to explore the Alpe Veglia and Devero Natural Park. Get ready for a guided snowshoe hike through larch woods and snowy plateaus, plus a night walk under the stars, torches on, mountain silence all around. On the 31st, a shared dinner with local dishes and a midnight toast to kick off the new year the Guiddy way.

Welcome to the magic of Devero

We’ll arrive in Alpe Devero and waste no time: once we’ve dropped off our bags, we’ll lace up our hiking boots and dive straight into the atmosphere of this special corner of the Alps. Our first hike will take us to the enchanting Lago delle Streghe, one of the most captivating spots in Alpe Devero. We’ll pass through the tiny hamlet of Crampiolo and walk among traditional mountain huts and larch woods which, blanketed in snow, turn the landscape into a true winter postcard. Once we reach the lake, we’ll take time to enjoy the silence of the forest and discover a few fascinating stories connected to this place with its wonderfully evocative name. We’ll then return to Pensione Fattorini, where the warmth of the lodge, dinner, and our first evening together will be waiting for us. 🍷🔥 Day’s highlight: Lago delle Streghe, Crampiolo, and your first taste of Alpe Devero’s winter magic.

Snowshoe Hike to Crampiolo and San Giacomo

After breakfast, the most intense day of our New Year's celebration awaits us. We'll set off on a winter loop trek between Crampiolo and the San Giacomo area, venturing into the heart of the snow-covered landscape of Alpe Devero. With snowshoes on when conditions call for them, we'll cross woods, clearings and wide open spaces surrounded by mountains. It will be a day to savor without rushing: we'll walk, stop at the most scenic spots, and share the pleasure of being outdoors in one of the most beautiful winter settings in the Ossola valley. In the afternoon we'll head back to the guesthouse. A shower, a bit of relaxation, and then… the pace changes completely. 🥂 The New Year's Eve Dinner awaits us, with local flavors, toasts, music, conversation and all the energy of the Guidders. At midnight, we'll say goodbye together to the old year and welcome the new one, surrounded by mountains. Highlight of the day: a great loop on the snow + New Year's Eve Dinner and midnight toast. 🎇

The first trek of the new year

After New Year’s Eve, there’s no need for a Himalayan-expedition-style wake-up call. We’ll take our time over breakfast and ease gently into the first day of the year. Before saying goodbye to Alpe Devero, we’ll enjoy one last walk in the snow, choosing the route according to the conditions and the group’s energy levels. It will be a more relaxed outing, designed to let us soak up a little more mountain air, take in the views, and start the year the most Guiddy way possible: hiking boots on our feet and new friends by our side. We’ll head back in the early afternoon, collect our bags, and then it will be time to say goodbye. Probably with a few hours less sleep, but with plenty more memories. 🧡 Day highlight: the first trek of the year together with the Guidders.
