Hike the Path of the Gods: Trekking from Bologna to Florence through history, the Apennines, and authentic Italian villages.
The Way of the Gods, Bologna to Florence
From Piazza Maggiore to Florence, on foot.
The experience
The Via degli Dei is one of Italy's most iconic long walks: it links Bologna to Florence across the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines on paths, gravel roads and ancient Roman ways. We set off from Piazza Maggiore, among porticoes and medieval towers, and the city falls behind little by little.
Day 1. From Bologna to Badolo, by Casalecchio and Sasso Marconi. Day 2. From Badolo to Madonna dei Fornelli, by Brento and Monzuno. Day 3. From Madonna dei Fornelli up to the ridge, and on stage by stage down to Florence.
5 reasons to come - a complete long walk, Bologna to Florence - the ancient Roman ways along the ridge - the villages of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines - the start from Piazza Maggiore, under the porticoes - arriving in Florence on foot
