Bivacco Capanna Mattia al Monte Monoccola
Capanna Mattia Bivouac at Monoccola
An intact military mule road, leading to a bivouac.
The experience
Above the village of Ceto, in the Valcamonica, ran the Cadorna Line, today the boundary between Lombardy and Trentino-Alto Adige. The route we take with the Guidders is demanding, but it is also a piece of history: most of the path follows an old military mule road still intact. We reach the Bivacco Capanna Mattia, just below Monte Monoccola and Monte Listino, not far from the basin of Lago della Vacca.
5 reasons to come - the Cadorna Line military road, still intact - the Bivacco Capanna Mattia as the objective - Monte Monoccola and Monte Listino above the hut - the closeness of the Lago della Vacca basin - history and effort in the same route
