San Fedelino Trek: Autumn Crossing on Lake Como
San Fedelino: lake's hidden gem
A Romanesque chapel tucked in the woods, right on the water.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Dascio, above Sorico, where Lake Como narrows and almost turns into a river. It's a crossing that climbs straight into the forest, along ancient mule tracks with the lake flashing between the trees at every bend. We reach the highest point of the trail, then head down towards our goal: the San Fedelino chapel, a tiny Romanesque gem rising right on the shore. The final stretch drops steeply, pulling us closer to the water with every step.
We're walking the old Via Regina, the medieval road that once linked Como to Valtellina: pilgrims and merchants crossed this same path centuries ago.
5 reasons to join - San Fedelino chapel, a piece of history right on the lake - a forest crossing lit up by autumn colors - lake views that change at every turn - an ancient trail, part of the historic Via Regina - golden afternoon light on the way down
