WHY THIS TRIP
Five days on the ridge, with the Mediterranean never letting go
The Alta Via dei Monti Liguri runs for about 440 kilometres along the watershed between the sea and the Po plain, from Ventimiglia to the Tuscan border. We walk its Beigua stages, from the Colle del Giovo to the Turchino pass, then head down towards the sea: the forts above Genoa and the Portofino promontory. On the ridge you walk with the gulf of Genoa below on the right and the valleys running down to Piedmont on the left.

Accommodation
It is a strange route: at a thousand metres there are beeches and peat bogs, and two days later you walk among holm oaks and olives above the sea of Portofino. In the Beigua park the rocks are green because they are ophiolites, uplifted ocean floor; in the Portofino park the trail ends at San Fruttuoso, the abbey reachable only on foot or by boat.

Effort

MUST READ
Battello: parte solo col mare buono.
Optional extras
PAID ON SITE
Weather and changes of plan
