WHY THIS HIKE

The Caproni Forest

HOW TO GET THERE
09:00MEETING
Departure
Small car park near the Sarca river in Moletta, Arco (TN)
10:00VIEWPOINT
Upper quarries
After crossing a good part of the Caproni forest on the well-known "Sentiero della maestra", we will reach our highest point where there are some buildings (one renovated), a well, a garden and above all the famous and impressive oolite quarries used to build huge monuments and columns. Are you curious to see this magnificent place nestled in the forest while listening to its history?
10:45VIEWPOINT
Trenches and chestnut grove
From the upper quarries, nestled in an evergreen holm oak forest, we will head south-west where we will literally walk through trenches dating back to the Great War, overlooking the "Busa", the Basso Sarca valley. Afterwards we will head back into the forest, home to ancient monumental chestnut trees, many now dead but with bizarre shapes.
11:45RETURN
Rock carvings and centuries-old chestnut trees
On the way back, those who wish can take a detour to admire the rock carvings and the chestnut trees in the clearing at Pianaura.

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Andrea, an environmental hiking guide registered with A.I.G.A.E. I live among the mountains above Arco di Trento, a stone's throw from Lake Garda, and I spend most of my time in the woods: walking, running, climbing, skiing, or simply reading a book in peace. I work mainly in the Alto Garda area and across the Triveneto, which I know trail by trail. I also love travelling and discovering, especially remote destinations like Alaska, Svalbard, Namibia — and from every trip I come back wanting to show other people what I've seen. What else? A world of other things: work in progress. Walk with me and you'll find someone who is at home in wild, untouched places. ✌️ See you in the mountains, Guidders!
