Monte Fuso: autumn loop hike

A cippo from 1901, a forest turning gold, and a loop that never lets you get bored.

The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Neviano degli Arduini, right in the heart of the Monte Fuso Park, with that warm autumn light lighting up the forest colors. The route is a loop: we climb through beech woods changing shade with every step, with a few steeper stretches to keep things exciting, all the way to the summit cippo at 1111 meters. From up there the view opens onto the Parma Apennines, and the descent takes us back down through woods smelling of fallen leaves.

The Monte Fuso Park isn't just nature: it's home to over 60 wild ungulates including deer, fallow deer and mouflons, and it's also a place of Resistance memory, with panels telling the story along the way.

Departure from Strada Monte Fuso — Neviano degli Arduini

We meet the Guidders at Strada Monte Fuso, in the municipality of Neviano degli Arduini (PR): the time is indicative and may change with the season, the exact start time will be shared in the Telegram group. We set off with the autumn-coloured woods all around us.

10:00SUMMIT

Riserva Faunistica Monte Fuso

An exciting immersion in the nature of Mount Fuso. Accompanied by a certified guide, we'll explore the Monte Lavacchio Wildlife Reserve for a unique wild-watching experience. Walking through the woods, we'll have the chance to observe fallow deer, red deer and mouflon up close in their natural habitat, discovering the park's biodiversity in complete safety.

First steep stretch in the autumn woods

The trail climbs decisively through golden leaves: we go step by step through a wood that in autumn shows off crazy colours. A great warm-up for the legs before the upper part of the route.

Panoramic ridge towards Monte Fuso

We come out of the woods onto an open ridge with a view over the valley: the golden autumn light lights up the surrounding ridges. A great spot to catch your breath and snap a few photos before the final climb.

Monte Fuso: summit, boundary stone and lunch break

We're on the summit of Monte Fuso, by the boundary stone erected in 1901: we stop here for lunch with the autumn panorama over the Parma Apennines all around us. A moment to celebrate with the group, well deserved after the climb.

Return to the cars at Neviano degli Arduini

We close the loop back at the starting point, with the last autumn light filtering through the branches. Once the hike is done with the Guidders, we enjoy a cold beer or a coke together by the cars.
