WHY THIS HIKE

Alta Luce in the shadow of Monte Rosa

Hike to one of the most panoramic spots around Monte Rosa. Altaluce is a challenging climb, but one that rewards all the effort to reach it. We will take advantage of the cable car that from Staffal will take us to Gabiet and from there we will continue on a comfortable path to Colle di Salza. Here begins the steepest section that will take us to the summit to ring the characteristic bell that will greet our arrival. From up here, the panorama is indescribable. We are located above the tongue of the Lys glacier and believe me, it is a unique sight. We will return via the ascent route. Don't miss this incredible experience.

HOW TO GET THERE
07:30PARKING
Ride the cable car up!
We'll meet at the Staffal cable car parking lot at 7:30 AM. I know it's an early start, but we need to stick to the schedule because the last cable car back to Staffal leaves at 5:30 PM, and we don't want to miss it! We'll take the first section of the cable car up to the Gabiet station. From there, we'll hit the trail that leads to the summit. It's roughly an 800-meter ascent, and at our relaxed and steady pace, it should take us about three hours.

"We've reached the summit, and now we'll ring the summit bell to celebrate this incredible moment! The view from here is absolutely breathtaking. It stretches from the entire Monte Rosa massif to the Grand Tournalin and all the Aosta Valley peaks. It's simply amazing!"
13:30RETURN
"Descent to Gabiet"
"From the summit, we'll descend back to Colle Salza. If time and weather permit, we'll take a slight detour to the Orestes Hütte for a coffee before returning to Gabiet to catch the last cable car down, no later than 5:30 PM."
