Climbing Monte Linzone from Roncola is a timeless classic, guaranteed to bring immense satisfaction, even to the most leisurely hiker. The trail to follow is CAI 571, part of the renowned "Valle Imagna Circuit."

"We're off! The adventure begins with a stroll through the woods."
Park your car near the town of Roncola (about 850 meters). The first steps are along a paved road that quickly becomes a mule track. Here, the beech and chestnut forest offers a refreshing welcome, but don't be fooled: the initial slope is just what you need to let your lungs know the day has begun in earnest. At this point, the trail is sheltered and shaded, ideal for the hottest days.
19:30VIEWPOINT
The Crest: Where the Sky Opens
After about 20-30 minutes of walking, the forest suddenly thins out, giving way to the expansive summit meadows. This is where the real magic begins. The trail continues along the ridge, becoming almost flat and incredibly scenic. To your left, the plain stretches as far as the eye can see; to your right, the peaks of the Bergamo Prealps begin to emerge. It's a stretch of "contemplative trekking," where the view sweeps freely and the grassy path eases your step.

The Summit: Where Two Worlds Meet
Continuing slowly, you reach the great cross of Monte Linzone (1,392 m). The summit is a broad grassy mound, perfect for spreading out a blanket and becoming privileged spectators of the sunset. On a clear day, the spectacle is spectacular: you can play "guess the summit" by pointing at Monviso, Monte Rosa, Disgrazia, and, of course, the nearby jagged profile of Resegone.

The Return: Light and Shadow
The return journey follows the same route. If you've planned this hike to enjoy the sunset (highly recommended), be sure to pack a headlamp. The descent along the ridges illuminated by the twilight has an almost mystical allure, but it's important to pay attention to the terrain as the shadows lengthen. In less than 45 minutes, you'll be back at the starting point, with tired legs but a decidedly lighter heart.
