White Lands: Harmonies of the Euganean Landscape
White Lands Loop
A loop trail through vineyards, woods and history, just outside Padua.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Luvigliano di Torreglia, right in the heart of the Euganean Hills, leaving traffic behind for a world of gentle hill paths. The trail is a loop: we climb softly through groves and clearings, with one short steeper stretch that gets the heart pumping, then continue along the ridge with surprise views over the Veneto plain. Along the way we pass Villa dei Vescovi, a Renaissance gem, and the War Memorial from 1921, one of the first built in Italy after WWI. Anyone who fancies it can take a short optional detour onto the Pirio Path, where a little stream crosses near Fornetto.
True story: this road is named after painter Roberto Ferruzzi, creator of the world-famous "Madonnina" painting, who lived right here in Luvigliano.
