The experience

Legend says the Val Codera was created first, when the good Lord had not yet worked out how to arrange mountains. Or last, when, tired out, he threw the roughest peaks in here. Either way, it is one of the wildest corners of the Rhaetian Alps: a place with no roads and no compromises. We set off with the Guidders from the hamlet of Codera and take on an almost vertical climb, the kind that never lets up, to the high pasture and then the Bivacco Casorate.

HOW TO GET THERE

Starting from Codera
We start from Codera, crossing two stone bridges over the Val Ladrogno gorge to reach the "Tracciolino" trail. From there, the real climb begins, first through the woods and then through meadows, until we reach the Mottala mountain huts. We continue ascending to the Alpe Ladrogno, at 1700m, where a well-deserved break awaits!

From Alpine Pastures to Mountain Shelters
"From here, we continue along a faint trail that climbs steeply through the woods behind the hut, emerging onto the valley's steep upper pastures. From here, it's a short hike to the distinctive red bivouac, shaped like an iron. We've reached the highest point of our trek. A well-deserved lunch awaits!"
