Larch Forest

The trail to Lake Dres begins by immersing us in a magnificent larch forest. Unlike dense spruce woods, this larch grove offers a bright and airy atmosphere; the slender branches allow sunlight to filter through, creating a dance of light and shadow across the carpet of needles and moss covering the forest floor.

Dress Lake

As you crest the final grassy ridge, the view suddenly opens up to reveal the basin cradling Lake Dres. It appears like a jewel of clear water, set amidst high-altitude pastures and towering granite ramparts. The atmosphere here is one of absolute peace: the water’s surface reflects the deep blue of the sky and the jagged peaks of the Levanne, which dominate the horizon with their sheer grandeur. It is a corner of the Gran Paradiso that remains wild and quiet, a place where time seems to stand still, allowing us to breathe in the true soul of the mountains.
