The experience

We set off with the Guidders from the village of Santo Stefano d'Aveto, the gateway to the Aveto park, and climb calmly through woods and clearings to the Passo della Lepre. From there the best part begins: the rocky crest leading to the summit of Monte Maggiorasca, with panoramic ridgelines opening across the whole valley. The return closes the loop from the top, bringing us back to the pass and then to Santo Stefano.

Santo Stefano D'Aveto - Lepre Pass
We start from Santo Stefano d'Aveto, immediately immersing ourselves in the heart of the hike. The trail climbs gently through woods and clearings, letting you warm up your legs before the more challenging section. We'll reach the Passo della Lepre (Lepre Pass) and then follow the ridgeline.

Lepre Pass - Mount Maggiorasca Ridge Trail
The most technical part of the trek: a rocky ridge with exposed sections. Sure footing and careful attention are required, especially in windy conditions or when the ground is wet.
12:00SUMMIT
Mount Maggiorasca Summit
Reaching the summit at 1,804 meters (5,919 feet), you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking 360° panorama encompassing the Alps, the Po Valley, and the Ligurian Sea.
13:30SUMMIT
Summit Loop
"From the summit, we'll enjoy a loop hike down towards the Rocca del Prete (Priest's Rock)."
14:30PASS
Hare Pass
Having reached Lepre Pass, we'll retrace our steps along the original trail.

End of the hike.
We head back to the vehicles after completing a stunning loop trail, featuring a variety of terrain ranging from challenging sections to gentler paths.
