WHY THIS HIKE

The Riva-Girani bivouac below the Grignone

A bivouac hut at the foot of the Grignone, and lunch inside it.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

We set off with the Guidders from the car park by the Chiesetta del Sacro Cuore, at Ballabio, and the path takes on its character straight away, through pastures, summer farms and forests rising towards the northern Grigna. The objective is the Bivacco Riva-Girani, at the foot of the Grignone, the signature mountain of the Valsassina: inside it we eat together, the way it used to be done. The return closes the loop.

5 reasons to come - lunch inside the Bivacco Riva-Girani - the Grignone dominating the whole day - the pastures, farms and forests of the Valsassina - a loop that does not repeat the way up - starting the year with an adventure rather than a list of resolutions

Who it suits A loop on mountain path: normal walking fitness and kit suited to the season.

Alpine tradition and good company: come with the Guidders.
