Fifty-two tunnels carved by hand into the rock. A story of war and ingenuity you walk through, tunnel after tunnel, headlamp in hand and breath held.
The 52 Tunnels Trail on Mount Pasubio is one of the most incredible works of World War I: built in under ten months in 1917 to supply Italian troops while sheltering them from enemy fire. You start from the parking area along the old military road and step straight into the first tunnel. From there, the galleries follow one after another, each different, with panels telling the story of who dug them. After about three hours you reach the Achille Papa Refuge, then return along the scenic Strada degli Scarubbi: 16 km, 900 meters of elevation gain. A headlamp is required: it's pitch black inside.

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Enrico, a hiking guide. The mountains have always been my passion: I live them on foot, running or on MTB in summer, with snowshoes and ski touring in winter. I love discovering them in every season and every hour of the day, from sunrise to sunset, sometimes even at night. I know well the Colli Berici, the Vicenza Prealps, the Piccole Dolomiti, the Asiago Plateau and Sette Comuni area, and the Belluno and Trentino Dolomites, where I also organize snowshoe outings and multi-day treks with overnight stays in mountain huts. What I love most is telling the story of these places and helping you feel the nature that lives in them, passing on a sense of calm, fun and emotion, even when the effort gets real. I offer day hikes, multi-day treks, "on demand" outings in places you choose, and I can also help you plan routes to do on your own or pick the right gear.
