The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Introbio, in the heart of the Valsassina, and climb through woods and summer pastures to Rifugio Madonna della Neve, then to Lago di Sasso and Rifugio Santa Rita. Higher up we reach the Costa del Dente, with wide glimpses of the Grigne, and the return passes Rifugio Dino Tavecchia. It is a long outing on mixed ground — mule track, woodland trails and harder sections up high — repaid with views, silence and the feeling of having earned all of it.

After the first part of the ascent, Rifugio Madonna delle Nevi is the perfect place to stop for a break.

Sasso Lake
Before reaching Santa Rita Mountain Hut, we follow the shoreline of the beautiful Lake Sasso.
12:00MOUNTAIN HUT
Santa Rita Mountain Hut
We’ve reached Passo Tre Croci, home to the beautiful and welcoming Rifugio Santa Rita mountain hut. Here, anyone who wishes can enjoy a delicious lunch or treat themselves to one of the excellent homemade cakes.
13:00VIEWPOINT
“Dente Coast”
From the mountain hut, we follow the ridgeline trail along Costa del Dente.
14:30MOUNTAIN HUT
Dino Tavecchia Mountain Hut
At Rifugio Tavecchia, we rejoin the same trail we took on the way up.
15:30RETURN
Return to the cars
After a beautiful traverse across Val Biandino, we return to the cars.
