Trek to Lake Spigorel from Lizzola: a scenic hike through the Val Seriana, past an alpine lake and mountain huts
Spigorel Lake in the Seriana Valley
A quiet lake tucked beneath the Corna Spigorel.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Lizzola, in the upper Val Seriana, and climb through high pastures and mountain path towards Lago Spigorel, set right below the Corna Spigorel. Along the way we pass Rifugio Mirtillo and the Due Baite hut area, with views opening gradually across the Bergamo Orobie. The lake repays the climb with a gathered, intimate feel, the kind that keeps you sitting longer than planned, then we loop back to the cars.
5 reasons to come - Lago Spigorel, alpine and intimate - the view across the Bergamo Orobie - Rifugio Mirtillo along the route - a loop that does not repeat the way up - a day that trains both legs and head
Who it suits We walk on faint trail with steep sections, uneven ground and a few passages wanting a sure step: good fitness is needed.
A lake like this is worth every metre: come and see it with the Guidders.
