The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Rifugio Cometti, in the Valmalenco, and cross conifer woods and panoramic pastures to Rifugio Bosio Galli, in the fine plain of Alpe Airale. From there the landscape changes face: meadows and streams give way to moraines, scree and glacial scenery dominated by Monte Disgrazia. A sharper climb brings us to Lago di Cassandra Superiore, set among the rocks, where the water mirrors the peaks around it. Then we close the lake circuit.
