Trek to Cima della Croce and Monte Alben Hut: a scenic, authentic hike in Val Serina

An iconic hut and a real summit, above the Val Serina.

We set off with the Guidders from Cornalba and climb through woods and high pastures to Rifugio Monte Alben, one of the best-loved huts in the Bergamo Orobie. From there we carry on to Passo della Forca and gain Cima della Croce, with the view opening onto the Presolana, Monte Arera and every valley in the Bergamo area. The return closes the loop back to Cornalba. Contrast is what makes the day: woodland at the start, rock up high, and that sense of space when you step onto the ridge.
