The Wayfarer's Path from Varenna to Dervio
If you're looking for an authentic, accessible, and super panoramic trek on Lake Como, this stage of the Sentiero del Viandante is perfect. The Guidders love it because it combines historic villages, ancient mule tracks, and continuous views of the lake, without requiring high technical preparation.

The experience
It's the third stage of the walk and probably one of the most balanced: manageable elevation gain, ideal length, and so many wow moments along the way.
If you want to discover Lake Como in a different way than usual, this is the right trek. Light backpack, hiking boots, and a desire to walk: the views will take care of the rest.

Varenna and Perledo: Hiking Gems of Lake Como
We start from Varenna train station and immediately begin ascending towards Vezio along a cobbled mule track. You'll quickly gain altitude here, and the first views of the lake are already spectacular! From Vezio to Perledo, we'll hike along a very scenic stretch, passing historic houses and woodland trails. We'll go near Vezio Castle and continue towards Perledo, always with open views of Lake Como.
12:30HIKING TRAIL
Perledo-Bellano Hike
The trail here alternates between dirt tracks and quiet paved roads. We'll pass through small, rustic villages as we descend towards Bellano, where you'll have the option of a detour to visit the Orrido di Bellano gorge.
14:00HIKING TRAIL
Bellano to Dervio Hike
The final stretch is a more relaxing ramble, winding through woodlands and opening up to scenic vistas. We'll arrive in Dervio, near the lake – perfect for a rest or a refreshing swim in the summer!
15:30RETURN
Dervio-Varenna
From Dervio, we'll hop on the train back to Varenna or Lecco.
