The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Carona and climb through woods and clearings on an easy mule track to Rifugio Calvi. From there we move into more open alpine country, among scree, wet ground and small tarns, heading for Lago dei Curiosi, set between rock and summits. The path is well marked at first, then turns wilder and fainter, sometimes still covered by the last snow of the season. This is the mountain waking up: snow melting, water running, silence returning.

HOW TO GET THERE

Meeting in Carona
Meet in Carona (BG) to park the cars and buy a scratch and park ticket in one of the bars in the town.
10:30MOUNTAIN HUT
Calvi Hut
We'll reach the mountain hut, surrounded by a breathtaking natural amphitheater. On the way there, we'll push on straight ahead to connect with the trail that leads us to the small lake.
11:30LAKE
Curiosi Lake
The snow didn't dampen our spirits, and we finally reached this little alpine gem! Time for a well-deserved photo break to catch our breath before we head back to the mountain hut.
13:00MOUNTAIN HUT
Calvi Hut
We pass by the refuge again, where we can consider a short break.
15:30RETURN
Return back
We return to the cars along the same route as the outward journey.

The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Carona and climb through woods and clearings on an easy mule track to Rifugio Calvi. From there we move into more open alpine country, among scree, wet ground and small tarns, heading for Lago dei Curiosi, set between rock and summits. The path is well marked at first, then turns wilder and fainter, sometimes still covered by the last snow of the season.
