The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Orimento, in the Val d'Intelvi, while the world is still asleep, and climb by head torch through the quiet of the woods towards the summit of Monte Generoso, one of the signature mountains between Lombardy and Canton Ticino. We arrive in time: as the first light touches the horizon the view opens all around, onto Lake Como, Lake Lugano, Monte Rosa, the Swiss Alps and the Bernina group. Then we head down with the sun already up, and the day has only just begun.
