The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Canzo, in the Larian Triangle, and climb the Sentiero Spirito del Bosco: mule tracks and woodland paths where, one after another, the carved wooden figures that give the route its name appear among the trees. We reach Rifugio Terz'Alpe, in the Val Ravella, and a little further the small, silent hermitage of San Miro. All around is the cool world of the Corni di Canzo, with uneven ground of roots and stones that asks for a calm pace.

HOW TO GET THERE

Departure from Canzo
We leave our cars in Canzo (CO). The hike begins on a trail that immediately leads into the forest. The setting is classic Prealpine scenery, with dense, shady vegetation accompanying the first steps of the walk.

Entering the Spirit of the Woods
Here, you can truly feel the atmosphere of the “Spirit of the Forest” trail, amid natural sculptures and deep silence.
11:00MOUNTAIN HUT
Terz'Alpe Hut area (approximate data)
We reach Terz’Alpe Refuge, an excellent spot to take a break, refill your water, or simply soak up the alpine atmosphere before continuing.
12:30VIEWPOINT
San Miro Hermitage
The sanctuary was built between 1643 and 1660 beside the Ravella stream in honor of Saint Miro Paredi. Devotion to the saint is closely linked to water, and this peaceful spot has long been a place of pilgrimage. According to tradition, it was here, where the Oratory of San Miro now stands, that the saint caused a spring to flow. Here we will enjoy our packed lunch.
