Snowshoes on, the Disgrazia in front and a hot plate at the top.
We set off with the Guidders from Ardenno on a short but suitably steep climb, through silent woods and views that take your breath: ahead lie the snow-covered peaks of the Val Masino and the unmistakable profile of Monte Disgrazia. At Alpe Granda the family who run the hut welcome us, with honest food made from the valley's own produce. In winter all of this tastes different.
