WHY THIS HIKE

Pizzo Diei, San Domenico

A plateau that looks like the moon, Monte Leone and the Swiss four-thousanders right in front of you: this is how you reach the top of Pizzo Diei, 2,906 meters that close off the Veglia and Devero basin to the south.

Group chat a couple of days before
Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

We start from San Domenico di Varzo (1,410 m), meeting at 7:30 in the little square for a coffee together before setting off. We climb up to Alpe Ciamporino, pass the ski area and reach Dosso at 2,430 meters. From there, straight on to the summit. If the group is in good shape and the weather holds, we can push on to Pizzo Cistella (2,880 m): we'll decide it all together, on the spot.

Why join us: - Views stretching all the way to Switzerland - A varied route, from woodland to ridge - The chance to go further, if the group wants to - An easy return along the same trail

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Silvano, a guide. Mountains have never meant just one discipline to me. Over the years I've picked up all kinds of qualifications: ski mountaineering instructor, alpinism instructor, hiking guide, national mountain bike guide, national instructor and international trainer for nordic walking, ski patroller, and technical director for a tour operator. Each path taught me a different way to read the terrain, the people, and the effort. What I love most is exactly this mix: bringing together people who come from different backgrounds, with different legs and different goals, and finding the right pace together. I believe in guiding that respects everyone's own timing, never pushing too hard. Anyone who sets out with me should come home with a real experience, as safe as it can be, and the desire to come back for more. See you in the mountains, Guidders!
