The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Moggio, into the woods, and gain height steadily to Rifugio Nicola. From there we carry on towards Cima di Piazzo, along an airy crest that opens a full-circle view across the Lecco and Bergamo mountains. From the summit you can pick out the Resegone, Monte Due Mani and the Grigne; on the far side the Campelli group and Pizzo dei Tre Signori. The return passes the hut again.

HOW TO GET THERE

We park the car in Moggio, near the stream, and begin our ascent towards the Artavaggio Plains.

We reach the Nicola mountain hut and stop for a break before the final push to the summit!
11:30SUMMIT
From Lodge to Summit
From the Nicola Hut, we'll take the ridgeline trail that leads us to the summit of Cima di Piazzo in no time!
12:30SUMMIT
Descent from the Summit
From the summit, we'll soak in breathtaking views of the mountains around Lecco, Pizzo Tre Signori, and the Bergamo Alps (Orobie Bergamasche). Afterward, we'll descend towards the Rifugio Nicola for a well-deserved lunch.
