WHY THIS HIKE

Val Venegia in the Pale di San Martino

Come alone, leave with new friends

The experience

The Val Venegia is a small valley inside the Paneveggio Nature Park, at the foot of the Pale di San Martino, between the Cimon della Pala and the Mulaz. Gentle flowering meadows, the sound of streams and the Pale accompanying the whole route. We walk on an easy gravel road and path, never exposed, rising gently from Malga Venegia to the famous Baita Segantini: the hut and its little lake are a sight in themselves.

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Jacopo, an environmental hiking guide since 2014. I'm from Bassano del Grappa and I work mainly in the mountains: from the Venetian Prealps, quieter and wilder, to the wonderful scenery of the Dolomites. On my outings I love telling the story of places and of the people who lived them before us, bringing back the curious local legends and going looking for the particular animals and plants of the area. I love reading, and it's not unusual for me, mid-hike — deep in the forest or on an isolated rise — to open a book and read a passage aloud: with words our legs get lighter and our thoughts step away from the here and now to hold a moment of something timeless. I can't wait to take you on the next adventure. 📖 See you in the mountains, Guidders!
