The experience

Picture Madesimo at dusk, the crunch of snowshoes, the cold air of the Spluga valley and the first evening lights on the mountains. We set off with the Guidders from the middle of the village for an evening snowshoe walk on the Andossi, one of the great natural balconies of the Valchiavenna: an easy, panoramic loop, made also for anyone trying snowshoes for the first time. Step by step the village falls behind, leaving snow, mountains and silence. Then the hut, which this time is not a stop but the heart of the night: New Year's Eve dinner at Rifugio La Baitella, and the walk back to Madesimo by head torch.

Snowshoeing on the Andossi Plateau
We leave Madesimo behind and begin the ascent towards Andossi. As the light fades, the landscape changes quickly and we’ll switch on our headlamps. Along the way, the route offers beautiful views over the Spluga Valley, the village of Madesimo, and the surrounding winter landscape.

New Year's Eve Dinner at Rifugio La Baitella
Arrival at Rifugio La Baitella. Here we'll take off our snowshoes and gloves, and the most convivial part of the experience will begin: a traditional New Year's Eve dinner together with the Guidders. We'll eat, toast and wait for midnight together. 🎆 3… 2… 1… Happy New Year, Guidders!

The experience
