Starting from the charming village of Quarna Sotto, in the heart of Cusio (province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Piedmont), this circular trek to Monte Mazzoccone is one of those experiences that the Guidders love to share: authentic, panoramic, and never mundane. An excursion among historic paths, alpine pastures, and ancient woods, with continuous views of Lake Orta and the imposing Monte Rosa.

An ideal route for those seeking a complete excursion: nature, silence, and panoramas that unfold step by step, all the way to the summit.

The trail immediately begins with an intimate and spiritual atmosphere: ancient shrines accompany the first steps along a mule track that crosses a little-visited valley. As you ascend, the context changes: you enter forests of beech and fir trees, cool and shady, perfect even on the hottest days.

The real spectacle arrives at altitude: open alpine pastures, panoramic clearings, and a view that gradually widens to include Lake Orta and, on clear days, the entire Monte Rosa range. At the summit, the obelisk with the iron eagle is one of the most iconic symbols of the area.
