The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Alpe Giumello, in the Valsassina, and climb towards Monte Muggio on a mountain trail that is never dull: mixed ground, a few steep sections and terrain that turns slippery when damp. As we gain height the view opens onto Lake Como, the Valvarrone and the Grigne, and the grassy ridge gives that sense of space you only find up on a crest. The return closes the loop back at Alpe Giumello.
