The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Lecco and climb towards Monte Melma by way of the Osteria Montalbano, on path, woodland and crest. Few people name this summit, set as it is between the Resegone and the Grigne, and yet the view surprises: Lecco below, the Valsassina on one side and Lake Como on the other. We descend towards Ballabio to close the loop, with manageable height gain and the feeling of having discovered something.

HOW TO GET THERE

After parking the car, we'll set off on a well-worn mule track that climbs steadily through the woods.

Montalbano Inn
From here, our trail begins to climb more steeply into the woods.
11:00VIEWPOINT
Mud Mountain
Leaving the woods, we'll follow the ridge leading us to the summit of Monte Melma. From here, we'll enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including the Grigna Meridionale, Monte Due Mani, and the impressive rock faces of Corno Medale.
12:30VIEWPOINT
"Loop Hike Starting from Ballabio"
From the summit, we'll descend along the mountainside on a gentle to moderate slope. To complete our loop trail, we'll head back towards Ballabio.
15:00RETURN
Back to the vehicles
We'll reach the vehicles by hiking through the valley between Mount Melma and Due Mani.
