The experience

We set off with the Guidders in the late afternoon from Bossico and climb Monte Colombina, one of the most spectacular balconies above Lake Iseo. The path runs through conifer woods, fragrant pines and summer pastures dotted with well-kept barns, climbing at a steady gradient: nothing technical, just the pleasure of gaining height as the light drops. At the top the view turns all the way round: the whole lake from north to south, with Monte Isola at its centre and the mountains closing it in.
