The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Ceratello, a mountain village above Lovere, and climb through cool woods, high pasture and panoramic crests to the summit of Monte Alto, one of the most open tops in the upper Sebino. From up there the view is the memorable kind: Lake Iseo with Monte Isola at its centre, the Valle Camonica and the Orobie all around. On the way back we stop at Rifugio Magnolini, which is well worth the pause.
