WHY THIS HIKE

The majestic Twin Lakes

The Twin Lakes are located in the upper Brembana Valley. They are artificial basins, created following the construction of an Enel dam. Along the path that goes up from Carona, we will find several other lakes: Lake Colombo, Lake Becco and Lake Marcio, witnesses of the great abundance of water in this valley. Arriving at the Twin Lakes you will also find the refuge of the same name, a support point for the excursion. It is usually open for the summer period, so in the case of a winter proposal you will need to bring a packed lunch and be equipped with crampons/snowshoes for the ascent, certainly a different and fascinating way to experience these places with the atmosphere created by the snow and frozen basins. The outing does not present technical difficulties, but it is ideal for those who have already done several medium-level excursions and want to approach more demanding excursions.

HOW TO GET THERE

Starting from Carona
We'll leave the car at the Artificial Lake parking area in Carona. Shortly after, you'll see signs indicating the start of the trail.
12:30MOUNTAIN HUT
Laghi Gemelli Mountain Hut or Laghi Gemelli Refuge or Hike to the Laghi Gemelli Hut
Our hike takes us to the Laghi Gemelli mountain hut. If conditions allow, we may also cross the dam and reach the shores of the Twin Lakes.
