Historic mule tracks and tarns in the upper Val Vigezzo.
We set off with the Guidders from Arvogno, a small village above Santa Maria Maggiore, taking an old mule track that tells the valley's rural past. The path climbs at a steady gradient through woods and clearings, passes San Pantaleone and reaches Lago Panelatte, set into the green, and higher still the Forcola di Larecchio. Here you walk far from mass tourism, among high pastures and genuine silence.
